After a great evening and a good nights rest with the lovely Miss Lynn we were up and at em early. We were in no real hurry this morning because our destinaation for the day was Key Largo and it was only 90 miles away. That meant we could spend the first part of the day on the beach here in Key West. It was a lovely day and the beach was the perfect start to it. From there we just wandered up the road and enjoyed this beatiful place.

There are many quiet and peaceful places to stop.

As you travel along the overseas highway there are countless places to explore and everywhere is wildlife. From the herrons, pelicans and manatees to the many species of game fish, strange exotic animals are everywhere. Your chances for unique photos are around every corner.

This white Heron wasn't bothered by me at all.

The Manatee population appears healthy.

Hard to believe these strange looking beasts could be mistaken for a mermaid. How much rum did those guys drink?

At this stop we were able to feed these 5' long Tarpon.

I almost look like I belong here.

One thing there is no shortage of in the keys is odd and unique. The people here have long been noted as eccentric and it is reflected in everything they do.

Anywhere you stop you will find great examples of this unique individual spirit so do not be afraid to explore.

There is no shortage of unique and interesting in the keys.

Our destination for the day was the Pelican Motel on Key Largo. I did not know what to expect. I realized it was a no frills kind of place but that was what I was looking for. When we got there I could not have been happier. We had rented half of a duplex cottage right at the waters edge. I was a little concerned how peaceful it would be because the other half of the cottage was rented by 10 college age folks. I don't know if you have ever run across college kids before but they do not have the reputation of being quiet. As it turned out they were quite nice and respectful young people.

The sunset was amazing and by far the best motel experience we have had in a long time. My favorite night of the trip and next time through We will be booking multiple nights. It all came and went too fast and before we knew it morning had arrived and it was time to head towards Miami.

The perfect spot to see the sunset.

Definitely no frill kinda place

Miss Lynn and a new friend at sunset.

Sign made Miss Lynn a little Nervous. I wanted to see one.
